M. Silver and Associates, Inc. was founded in 1986 by Merle Silver, CSA, ACA. The agency's original mission statement called for "the honest and ethical treatment of our clients, agents, and insurance carriers." Furthermore, it pledged its agents to "continue to gain knowledge about the products and planning that we provide to our clients and agents so that we may better serve them." Although our mission statement has been updated through the 20 years since it was written, M. Silver and Associates remains committed to those three precepts: honesty, ethics, and education.
The agency's original focus mirrored Mr. Silver's background in investments, life insurance, annuities, and health insurance. But in 1992, the agency moved into the property & casualty business with an emphasis on workers' compensation insurance. Since that time, the agency has become a major writer of workers' compensation insurance in Florida while maintaining its leading position for employee benefits in South Florida.
Merle Silver, CSA, ACA graduated from The University of Pennsylvania in 1971. Shortly after moving to Miami in 1979, he entered the field of financial services by joining Merrill, Lynch, Pierce, Fenner and Smith. He continued his career with Dean Witter, Reynolds before committing himself to the insurance industry by joining Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Co. By 1986, he had become disillusioned with large, financial service companies, and founded M. Silver and Associates, Inc., where he could provide all of his clients, regardless of their size, the time and professional attention that they deserved.
Mr. Silver has served on a number of industry and private Boards, including the Dade County Agent Advisory Board for the Community Health Purchasing Alliance and the Board of Directors of Temple Shir Ami. Recently, Mr. Silver was selected for inclusion in the 2007 Edition of the United Who's Who Registry of Executives and Professionals.
Mr. Silver is currently a member of the adjunct faculty of the School of Community Education, Center for Business and Industry at Miami Dade College, Kendall Campus. Among the various subjects that he has taught to insurance professionals is a class on "Ethics for Insurance Agents." It is no coincidence that this combination of education and ethics reflects the guiding principles of the agency that he founded. Here is a copy of his current teaching schedule.
Recently, in recognition of the shifting demographic patterns in society and in the agency's client base, and true to the ideals of the agency's mission statement, Mr. Silver completed the required course of study and was  awarded the coveted CSA designation. Through the process of becoming a Certified Senior
Advisor, Mr. Silver has gained new insights and expertise to better serve his senior clients.
